Dragons Apprentice Challenge 2019/2020

Despite the country going into lockdown in March 2020, CVS for Broxbourne and East Herts were able to successfully bring the Senior programme of the Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge to a conclusion. Following virtual sessions held by the SuperDragon Judges, we were able to announce Treat Time from The Broxbourne school as Overall Winner in Broxbourne and Numero Uno from Chauncy School won in East Herts.

The Challenge, launched in Autumn 2019, raised almost £3000 for 8 local charities by students from 6 schools through a wide range of enterprise activities including organising a Sing-Along, producing and selling Bubble Tea, making and delivering Children’s Games, making and selling products at Christmas Market Stalls, arranging and holding a Football Tournament, holding an Ice Skating Event and arranging Make-Your-Own Activities.

The benefitting charities included Citizens Advice East Herts, Cruse Bereavement Care Hertfordshire, Guideposts, Headway Hertfordshire, Local Social CIC, Southern Maltings, SPACE Herts and The Recovery Community.

Special thanks go our participating students from Chauncy School, Haileybury Turnford, St Mary’s Catholic School, The Broxbourne School, The Hertfordshire & Essex High School and The John Warner School School. The SuperDragons were very impressed with the achievements of the students despite the obvious challenges they faced. The Broxbourne judges also produced a personal video message for winners of their Outstanding Individual awards.

Local organisations giving of their time, expertise and also sponsoring the project included Ambition Broxbourne, Barclays, Broxbourne Council, East Herts Council, Gaze Property, Hertfordshire County Council, Love Hoddesdon BID, Network Homes, VolkerWessels and Wormley & Turnford Big Local. We are very appreciative of their support with the project.
